<p>These changes have led to a growing appreciation of the value of quality web copy. This appreciation has, in turn, led to an influx of opportunistic copywriters promoting themselves as website copywriters or SEO copywriters. Dont get me wrong, there are quite a few excellent SEO copywriters out there, and you should definitely shop around. The purpose of this article isnt to scare you; its to help you find the SEO copywriter wholl deliver honest service and excellent results.</p>

<p>1) An understanding of SEO</p>
<p>Obviously, your SEO copywriter must have a solid understanding of the essentials of Search Engine Optimization. They must know that ranking is essentially the result of a websites relevance (i.e. keywords) and importance (i.e. inbound links). There are a whole lot of other factors involved, but if your SEO copywriter doesnt understand these two basics, you should look elsewhere. <p>Someone needs to perform a keyword analysis in order to figure out what words you should be trying to rank highly for. Your SEO copywriter should be able to do this for you, but its quite often more cost-effective if someone a little closer to the business does it. Either way, make sure your agreement with your SEO copywriter makes it very clear who is performing this task. Dont assume the SEO copywriter is going to do it, because they may assume youre going to do it, and then youll blow your budget.</p>
<p>5) Keywords or keyword phrases</p>
<p>Expect your SEO copywriter to offer some advice regarding how specific you should be with your keywords. In most industries, the competition for keywords is so fierce that youll be forced to target very specific keywords in order to rank  at least at the outset. For instance, if youre in IT, you probably wouldnt start out by targeting the keyword IT. The competition is immense (at the time of writing, there were approx 3,240,000,000 results for this search in Google.com) and the IT giants already dominate the search engines for this keyword. Instead, try using a more specific keyword phrase like IT infrastructure consulting new york (at the time of writing, there were only around 4,000,000 results for this search in Google.com). The other benefit to targeting more specific keyword phrases is that youll generate more relevant leads.</p>
<p>6) Agree on word count per page</p>
<p>Always make sure your SEO copywriter gives you an indication of the number of words they expect to write per web page. While its necessary to have a decent body of words on most of your web pages, you certainly shouldnt have too many. What too many is all depends on your industry, the objective of the page, and the needs of your audience. Its always a delicate balance, but its certainly possible to rank highly with only 100-200 words per page. So dont be fooled into paying for copy you dont need!</p>
<p>7) Density targets &#038; measure</p>
<p>SEO of a web page is NOT guess-work. A good SEO copywriter will talk about density measures. This is a measure of the number of time the keyword phrase appears on the page. Its expressed as a percentage of the total word count of the page. So if your page has 200 words, and your keyword phrase appears 10 times, its density is 5%. As a rule of thumb, your SEO copywriter should be aiming for a density of approximately 5% for your primary keyword phrase and 3-5% for your secondary keyword phrase. If your density measures are much higher than this, readability will be reduced, and youll risk being perceived as spam by the search engines. Make sure your SEO copywriter understands keyword density, is prepared to state the target density for each keyword phrase, and is also happy to be measured by that standard (should you decide to measure).</p>
<p>8) Where to place keywords</p>
<p>The question of keyword placement has been the subject of much debate amongst SEO copywriters. While it is still unclear how much impact placement has, there is a general consensus that it has SOME impact. Be sure that your copywriter is aware of this impact. Popular opinion has it that keywords are more effective if they appear in headings, bolded text, links, and generally toward the beginning of the page.</p>
<p>9) Some comment on structure &#038; links</p>
<p>Websites are generally better indexed by search engines if their spiders can traverse the entire site using text links. This means your SEO copywriter should be linking each page to every other page using text links. If your site is complex, this may be impractical, so your SEO copywriter will need to create a hierarchical structure for your site. First, they should break your subject material down into categories. Then for each category, they should write a summary page. These summary pages should be accessible from higher level pages via text links. They should also be accessible from each other. Each summary page should link  using text links  to a number of pages discussing the finer details of the category. And each detail page in a particular category should link to every other detail page in that category (once again, using text links). This way the spiders are able to travel from the top of your hierarchy to the bottom, and from left to right across any level.</p>
<p>10) Dont believe grand promises</p>
<p>SEO copywriters can play a significant role in increasing your search engine ranking. But they cant do it overnight. By optimizing your site for your target keyword phrases, an SEO copywriter is simply declaring the relevance of your site. If you engage an SEO copywriter to write helpful articles containing a byline with a link back to your site, you can then submit these articles for publication on the Internet, and this will steadily increase your ranking. But if an SEO copywriter tells you they can dramatically increase your ranking in a matter of hours or days, be wary. NOTE: Your SEO copywriter should be able to submit your articles to various submit sites on the Internet. These sites are closely watched by hundreds of thousands of publishers of e-newsletters and article pages from all around the world. High quality articles are quickly snapped up and published prolifically. And each time your article is published, youve got another link back to your site, thus increasing the importance of your site (to the search engines). <p>The Dampening Link Filter</p>
<p>It seems that Google may have introduced something called a Dampening Link Filter into its indexing algorithm. <p>More and more people are realising the importance of links back to your site (or backlinks). For some time, companies have been engaging in all sorts of link campaigns designed to generate thousands of backlinks. Many of these campaigns havent really paid too much attention to the context or lifespan of these links. And Google knows it. Because these campaigns are designed to artificially generate the perception of a sites importance  to trick the search engines into thinking theyre important  its been suggested that Google has decided to put an end to it. Apparently, theres evidence to suggest that Google has introduced a new link filter to dampen the effect of new backlinks. So if your link generation campaign has just created 500 links in a day from seemingly irrelevant sites, Google will suspect it of being artificial, and refuse to pass on the full effect of those links  at least for a while. Well, thats how the theory goes, anyway.</p>
<p>It has been argued that you can avoid being penalized by this filter by generating links:</p>
<p>more slowly;<br />
from relevant sites; and<br />
which have a long lifespan.</p>
<p>The wisdom of relevance and lifespan is already well established; the dampening filter is simply one more reason why people should start to heed it. Writing and submitting SEO articles for online publication is one way to do so.</p>

<p>Build Backlinks Slowly</p>
<p>Writing quality articles takes time. Its as simple as that. Even an SEO copywriter cant just bang an article together in a morning  it has to be well considered. It must be accurate, informative, interesting, well written, and topical. And once youve written the article, the real work begins. You then have to submit it to your favourite article submit sites. And as they all have different requirements and idiosyncrasies, submitting your article to 50 submit sites can take you all day!</p>
<p>Once submitted, even the best articles will only be published gradually. A good article can be published 2 or 3 times a day for a week or two, then interest tapers off. But still, over the course of 6 months a single good article can be published hundreds of times! And remember, each time is a link.</p>
<p>Build Backlinks From Relevant Sites</p>
<p>As soon as you choose the topic of your article, you define the type of site that will publish it. All online publishers have an agenda; they want to generate traffic. Whether for commercial or benevolent reasons, they want particular kinds of articles for very specific audiences. Your article wont be published on irrelevant sites simply because the publishers of those sites get nothing out of it.</p>
<p>Of course, your article may be published on sites that are only marginally relevant. For instance, this article may be published on general copywriting websites, advertising websites, web design websites, home business websites, etc. But the beauty of a well written SEO article is that you get to optimize it for the keywords that you want to rank for. So even if the keywords on the publishing site dont quite match your own target keywords, the page containing your link (i.e. your article) does.</p>
<p>Whats more, you even have the power to optimize the links themselves. For instance, as an SEO copywriter, I can distribute backlinks throughout my article that use my target keywords as the link text (e.g. copywriter, SEO copywriter, advertising copywriter, and website copywriter <img src='http://ambatchdotcom-seocontest.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> . Some submit sites dont let you do this, but most will  at least in the byline.</p>
<p>And one other thing  other people link to good articles. This can increase the Page Rank of the site containing your article, which, in turn, can increase the page rank of your own site. Its a win-win situation!</p>
<p>Build Backlinks With a Long Lifespan</p>
<p>The quality of your SEO article determines the lifespan of your backlink. Write a very helpful article, make it easy to read, and choose a topic which isnt going to go away in a hurry, and your article will stay online for years.</p>
<p>In any event, most publishers tend not to clear out their article libraries simply because its better for them to have lots of content available to both readers and search engines.</p>

But it doesnt have to be that way If you feel like youre standing in a dark room handing money to strangers to get you in the search engines, then this article is for you.This is an article written by a business owner for other business owners and CEOs. It explains Search Engine Optimization (or SEO) in laypersons terms. It wont make you an expert, but it will give you some insight into what youre spending your money on, what you should be spending your money on, and just as importantly, what you shouldnt.</p>
<p>But before launching straight into an explanation of SEO, lets talk a bit about search engines. Approximately 75%-80% of website traffic comes through search engines. Whats more, research shows that most people dont look beyond the first 2 pages of search results. This means if your website doesnt rank in the first 2 pages of the major search engines, its only receiving 20% of its rightful traffic and revenue. (And remember, being ranked number 1 when you search for your company name or web address doesnt count. You need to rank highly for the words your customers use at search engines.)</p>
<p>The biggest concern for search engine companies like Google, Yahoo, etc., is finding content that will bring them more traffic (and thus more advertising revenue). They do this by using complex algorithms to determine whether a site is useful and should be included in their search results.</p>
<p>This is where SEO comes in.</p>
<p>SEO is the art of ranking in the search engines. Nothing more, nothing less.</p>
<p>SEO means creating your site such that the search engines consider it useful. The two main weapons in your arsenal are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Keywords</li>
<li>Links to your site</li>
</ul>
<p>KEYWORDS</p>
<p>Figure out what words your customers are looking for at search engines, and use those words at your site. By frequently using keywords that are important to your customers, you tell the search engines what you do. These keywords are used in your copy and in the code behind the page. Generally speaking, the more you use the keywords, the more relevant you are to searches in that field.</p>
<p>Keywords in Your Copy</p>
<p>The use of keywords in your copy is easy to understand. But its not easy to do. You cant just pepper your site with a meaningless array of words. The trick is using the most important keywords a lot without compromising the readability of your copy. Its a balance between writing for the search engines and writing for your reader.</p>
<p>TIP: If you find this too time consuming, a website copywriter can take care of it for you. And if you know your keywords already, it should cost you no more than normal web copy.</p>
<p>Keywords in Your HTML Code</p>
<p>The use of keywords in your HTML code is harder to understand, but its easier to do. There are four main places these keywords are used:</p>

<li>Alt</li>
<li>Title</li>

<p>TIP: When you hear people talking about meta tags, this is what theyre talking about. To see how meta tags are used in practice, go to Google and pretend youre a customer. Right-click on the home page, and select View Source. Youll see a whole lot of code. You can ignore most of it. What youre looking for are the following</p>
<p>meta name=&#8221;KEYWORDS&#8221; CONTENT=&#8221;keyword 1,keyword 2,keyword 3&#8243;</p>
<p>meta name=&#8221;DESCRIPTION&#8221; CONTENT=&#8221;Meaningful description of page using the main keywords&#8221;</p>

<p>Now that you know how to tell the search engines what you do, lets talk about how to convince them youre important.</p>
<p>Links to your site (or inbound links) are the most important factor in ranking. The more links you have to your site from other sites, the better your ranking (related sites generate better rankings).</p>
<p>TIP: Think of the Internet as a big election. All the websites in the world are candidates, and all the links to those websites are votes. The more votes (links) a candidate (website) has, the more important it is, and the higher its ranking.</p>
<p>There are many possible ways to generate links. Some are dubious (like auto-generation software). Others are legitimate, but offer limited results (like asking customers and suppliers to list you on their sites, and adding your site to various business directories). You can experiment with these methods, but Ive always found the best way to generate inbound links is to write helpful articles and let publishers of newsletters and e-zines use them for free  on the proviso that they link back to your site.</p>
<p>People who publish e-Zines and newsletters are always hungry for quality content. And there are websites out there dedicated to giving them just that. If you submit a well written, relevant, helpful article to one of those sites, you can have thousands of newsletter publishers ready to snap it up. Then you just sit back and watch the links multiply!</p>
<p>TIP: This method is beneficial in other ways too. Readers of your article will see that you know what youre talking about, and because youre published, theyll see you as an authority.</p>
<p>Its impossible to say how much time youll need to spend generating links. You just have to keep at it until you have achieved a high ranking. Even then, youll still need to dedicate some ongoing time to the task, otherwise your ranking will drop.</p>

<p>So to cut a long story short, it comes down to this. If you have a lot of the right keyword phrases, used in real sentences, distributed realistically throughout your site, and a lot of links from other relevant sites, you stand a good chance of being ranked highly.</p>

<p>This content can be anything from your product sites, to blogs, to articles.</p>
<p>Organic SEO is a more comprehensive approach to inexpensive web marketing and link building. Your article must be of some relevance. Meaning that you must speak to your audience ? they are you niche market, this is your base.</p>
<p>Keywords, your content must have!</p>
<p>The keys to a successful Organic SEO regimen are keyword rich content, and your author?s resource box. You may have noticed that the words Organic and SEO appear more than once in this article. Those are the keywords that I want to exploit. And why not, search engines have a love affair with keyword rich content.</p>
<p>By creating keyword rich content for your websites, blogs, ezines, newsletters, and articles, you lay the solid foundation for building obscene amounts of traffic and inbound links. Again search engines love great content. That and the fact that you are helping other webmasters who are in dire need of fresh content.</p>
<p>Just as important is that resource box. This is truly your life line. With this simple text you can start building one-way links back to your web site. Below is a sample resource box to use as a template.</p>

<p>Before you get started in writing keyword rich content, you must know what keywords are best to use. I have seen lots of ads for keyword generation, and I don?t like them. I did stumble upon nichebot.com and I love it. Maybe it is because I?m a convenience freak, but I believe nichebot is a perfect starting point for your keyword research. It gives you the scoop on the number of times the search phrase appeared in a particular database, number of pages listed on google with any or all of the keyword phrase, number of pages listed on google with the exact keyword phrase.</p>
<p>Written, the article is!</p>
<p>Now that you have written your article you need to start the distribution process. The best place to do that is at an article directory site. Article Alley, Article Loft, and iSnare are all good places to start. These article directories serve you not only by hosting your article for distribution, they provide a better targeted visitor to your site.</p>
<p>Your task is to sign up and post your article on at least four or five of these directories. Good articles quickly spread on the internet. You will have put yourself and your site in a good position to benefit from such proliferation. Your efforts will not go unrewarded. Many of the search engines will push your ranking higher because of the wide spread use of one-way links to your site.</p>
<p>I?ve stated before that this is a regimen. You need to set a goal of submitting at least an article a week. Surely there is something that you wish to point out about your product or site. There are other things that you need to consider adding to your Organic SEO efforts. Blogging and RSS feeds are two additional ways to increase your sites visibility and links. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p> SEO is currently a buzz word across the Internet but many normal people do not know what it is let alone how to do it. This is the massively growing trend of Search Engine Optimisation or SEO for short. SEO essentially is a way of altering websites in order to appear higher on a search engines for specific key words or key phrases. Now the theory behind this is relatively simple and the following list will cover the basics of how to achieve a higher ranking page (these basics follow white hat principles). 1. Chose one to three key phrases per webpage you create. Key phrases can be researched using Wordtracker or Overture in order to find the optimum key phrase for you. These 2 resources will basically help you find a phrase that hundreds or thousands of people search for, rather than just a few dozen if you choose the keyword off the top of your head. 2. When you have defined your key phrase create a relevant title for your webpage, and make sure your keyword/phrase is in it. 3. Write some content based around your key phrase, making sure you repeat your key phrase within the content. It is good practise to have between 6 - 12% of your content being the key phrase; however you need to try and make the content as readable as possible. 4. Create valid HTML or XHTML for your page and any ALT attributes used in images that are used should be specific to the image itself. If the image is relevant to your key phrase make sure you try and use the key phrase in the explanation. Images that have no meaning add the Alt attribute but set it to &#8220;&#8221;. 5. Add your keywords into the Meta keywords and also create a description about the page and include the keywords within the description. Now these 2 Meta tags are not taken into consideration by many Search Engines now-a-days but it is generally good practice to have them in place. 6. Any links within your document make sure you use relevant text as the link for example instead of having &#8220;Learn about SEO click here&#8221; with click here as the link just use &#8220;Learn about SEO&#8221; and have the sentence as the link. This is known as anchor text.Steps 1-6 cover the on page optimisation briefly. A webmaster can then look into building up their link popularity. This is where web pages link back to your page, and arguably is one of the more important parts of SEO. When a search engine spider visits your page it will look at how many other pages link to your page, it will also look at them pages and see what the pages are about. The more pages linking to your site then the more likely the search engine will think your webpage is important. However it is not quite so simple as that, the Search Engine will also look at the site that has linked to your page and if that page is based on the subject you have written about it will regard the link as more useful to lets say a poker site linking to a cricket site. Finally the SE will also look at how well the linking page is rated itself if no one has linked to the linking page then it will not be classed as that important so the weight of the link will not be that great to your site. However let&#8217;s say apple.com linked to the linking page along with hundreds of other sites and the page was based on the same subject as yours then the link would be very valuable indeed. Now if we look at Google they have a way of ranking how important pages are, called Page Rank (PR) the higher the PR the more important the site.</p>
<p>* 1 Way linking, this is the best form of linking and normally mean the content on your site is a <a title="student laon" href="http://thesmartcouple.com/student-loan-consolidations">useful resource</a> or just generally interesting to the linking website and they have decided to link to you. * 2 way linking. This is the more common way for SEO experts to get links; they literally swap links with websites. * 3 way linking. This is less common but is an attempt to make search engines think your website has 1 way links not 2 way links. For example Site A will link to Site B, then Site B will link to Site C and finally Site C will link back to Site A. If these strategies are put in place then a website will be well on the way to achieving better results in the search engines. Unfortunately because websites can be optimised to appear higher in search engines it has tempted a lot of people to find devious ways to improve a sites ranking in search engines.
